Taking a theme backup

It’s a good idea to take a theme backup before installing apps or making code changes.

That way, you always have a good version to switch back to if something goes wrong.

The easiest way to take a theme backup is to duplicate the theme and you can find instructions for that in the following link…

Duplicate your theme

Showing the vendor on collection thumbnails

Click “Customize” next to your theme name and in the preview of the theme, navigate to one of your collection pages. When that appears, you’ll see a new section in the sidebar named “Collection pages”. You’ll find an option to enable/disable the vendor in that section. Don’t forget to save your changes 🙂

Controlling “pre-order” products

The sunrise theme can show a message on your pre-order items. This will only appear when a product has managed inventory that is 0 or less and still available to buy.

Click “Customize” next to your theme name and then navigate to one of your products in the theme preview. When the product page loads, you’ll see a new section named “Product pages” in the admin sidebar. Use the settings in that section to enable or disable the pre-order message and then save your changes.

Show/hide stock availability on the product page

When the product page loads, you’ll see a new section named “Product pages” in the admin sidebar. Use the settings in that section to enable or disable the stock availability and don’t forget to save your changes.

Show/hide the SKU on the product page

Click “Customize” next to your theme name and then navigate to one of your products in the theme preview.

When the product page loads, you’ll see a new section named “Product pages” in the admin sidebar. Use the settings in that section to enable or disable the SKU and don’t forget to save your changes.

Show sub collections on pages

A collection shows all the products that it contains.

What if you want to show sub collections?

There’s a page template included in your theme that can help with that.

For example, let’s say that you have a collection named “Star Wars” and you want to show sub collections for example a thumbnail for Empire related products, one for Droids, one for Jedi etc.

So in this example, you’d create a page named “Star Wars”. See the following guide if you need help with creating a page…
Shopify pages documentation

Once you’ve created the page, you’ll see a dropdown that allows to select a template. Choose the template named “page.sub-collections” and save your changes.

Now go the the Navigation section of Shopify admin and create a menu with the exact same name as the page. So in this example, you’d add a menu named “Star Wars” then add links to the menu. Those links will then appear when you view the “Star Wars” page in your storefront.

NOTE: if you don’t see the template in the page dropdown you could be using an old version of the theme or customizing a theme that isn’t published as your live theme.

How do I remove the collection image from the collection page?

Click “Customize” next to your theme name and in the preview of the theme, navigate to one of your collection pages. When that appears, you’ll see a new section in the sidebar named “Collection pages”. You’ll find an option to hide the collection image in that section. Don’t forget to save your changes 🙂

  • Logo list: 400 x 200px

What does theme support cover?

Free theme support covers bug fixes and help with theme settings. We can also help you with some minor modifications (e.g. a small CSS snippet to change a color of a specific item). If you’d like to add new features or change how the theme works, that would fall outside the scope of regular theme support but you can hire an experienced developer to modify the theme code for you from the Shopify experts area.

What are your normal support hours?

Please note that normal support hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm GMT but we’ll often reply outside those hours whenever possible. We aim to reply to all emails within 24 hours. You can use the contact form to get in touch. All theme support is handled by email. With multiple clients in different timezones, it’s much easier to keep track of things that way.
